Child bearing and breast feeding further weakens the bones if calcium and minerals are not supplemented in adequate quantities. Paget’s disease is another disease which affects people above the age of 40. It leads to deformation of the skeletal structure and frequent fractures. Osteogenesis Imperfecta is a disease in children, which is a genetic disorder.

Children suffering from this bone disease have brittle bones, which fracture at the slightest instance. Wrists and spines are most likely to get fractured, but hip fractures are also not uncommon. These diseases badly affect the quality of life and they find it difficult to do ordinary tasks like stand, walk and often need assistance in dressing.

Avascular necrosis is disease that is caused by insufficient supply of blood to bones and affects the upper part of the bones which joins the hips, elbow, shoulders and ankles. There is deterioration in the conditions of the bone which gets affected by this disease. Osteomyelitis is an infection of bones and is caused by bacteria.

The disease reaches the bone through blood from the sight of infection which may be in the other parts of the body. Osteomyelitis has symptoms like fever, nausea, lethargy and severe pain. Skin over the infected bones can become red and swollen.

Excess of uric acid in the body can lead to a condition called Gout. It is a very common disease of bones that can be easily diagnosed and treated. Too much of uric acid formed in the body get accumulated at the joints and cause inflammation.
